A Minus


I took this when I was in my first photography class at Stanford. Later, when we were showing our portfolios to the class, the professor picked this one up and said, "Hmmm...I think I see your grade for this quarter!". Thus the name.

What appealed to me in this were the symmetry and dissonance. I liked the almost-parallel arrows pointing toward infinity, superimposed by two carelessly thrown letter A's. I also like all the shadows: brights and darks.
